2010 Danube Day

In 2010, The International Danube Day was celebrated together with the second edition of the Cuisine and Gourmet Festival and Ethno cultural “D’ale Gurii Dunarii”, under the slogan “Enjoy Danube and Delta, friends and local community’s members”.

During the competition of traditional cuisine festival D’ale Gurii, chefs from nine communities alongside Delta (Chilia Veche, Crisan, Isaccea, Jurilovca, Mahmudia, Mila 23, Pardina, Sarichioi, Sulina) competed in cooking Delta traditional dishes. The specialties had been evaluated by a jury compounded by Vintila Mihaescu – chairman, Ivan Patzaichin, Ioana Craciunescu, Razvan Cucui and Teodor Frolu.

Special guests of the event were the European Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Dacian Ciolos, European Commissioner for Health and Consumer Protection, John Dalli, Minitry of Agriculture and Rural Development, Mihail Dumitru and Secretary of State, Ministry of Environment, Dan Carlan. European officials, alongside with Agriculture Ministry, participated at a press conference on the importance and ways of high lightening traditional foods and products.

The officials also debated the major issues of the Danube, at a roundtable on: “We have Danube. How do we protect it?”. The main topics focused on the impact that European funds have on sustainable development, people, biodiversity and water quality.
